  • Z Grills Pellet Smoker
  • Z Grills Cherry Grill Pellets

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chickens
  • tbsp  of rub for each whole chicken

Instructions

  • Preheat your smoker grill to 250°F
  • Rinse the chicken under cold water. Trim any excess skin or fat around the neck area or in and around the bird’s cavity.
  • Tie the legs together using kitchen string or butcher's twine. If desired, fold the wings back and under the back. This is not necessary, but nice for the presentation.
  • Generously rub the bird with the spice rub. Make sure all areas are covered.
  • Place the birds on the grill racks and leave them in the smoker until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F. This takes about 3-5 hours, depending on the quantity of food you grill.
  • Let the chicken rest for 15-20 minutes before serving.

Temp and time are perfect. Do you know a trick to make the skin crispy?

      Hi Arron,

Thanks for your comment. To make the skin crispy, you can use a salt rub 1-2 days before smoking or apply baking powder to chicken skins. For more information please check out this article https://blog.zgrills.com/how-to-get-crispy-chicken-skin-on-a-pellet-grill/

      Hi Mark,

Leave the door closed. Open it only when you need to access direct flame.

Followed your temp and cook time almost to a Tee. Only think is we had to cook it alittle longer to get to the 165 internal temp but it was perfect.
