Smoked Elk Roast

If you've never had smoked elk, you're truly missing out. This Smoked Elk Roast recipe is incredibly flavorful and very easy to smoke.

Equipment

  • Z Grills 700D Wood Pellet Grill
  • Z Grills Hickory Wood Pellets

Ingredients

  • Elk Roast
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your pellet smoker to 180 °F.
  • Coat the entire roast with olive oil, salt and pepper or your preferred rub.
  • Put the elk roast on the smoker racks and smoke for 60 minutes.
  • Increase heat to up to 400 °F and cook until it reaches your desired internal temperature. 130°F for medium rare, about an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove the meat from the smoker and let it rest for 5-10 minutes and carve the meat into thin slices. Enjoy!
