Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

Bacon adds a salty, crunchy bite to subtly bitter asparagus spears. The delicious side dish is just the thing to serve with smoked chicken, grilled steak, or your favorite fish. To make this smoky side, you’ll need a bunch of asparagus, bacon, and a few simple seasonings. Best of all, bacon-wrapped asparagus cooks up in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

  • Preheat your Z-Grills (preferably with branded wood pellets) or other wood pellet grill to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil, then season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon zest. Toss to coat.
  • Wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of bacon.
  • Transfer the bacon-wrapped asparagus spears to the grill, close the lid, and cook for 15-18 minutes or until the spears are tender and the bacon is crisp.
  • Remove the asparagus from the grill and serve.

Notes

Do not use thick-cut bacon for bacon-wrapped asparagus.
